    Birth

    A child born to a Slovak citizen is automatically a Slovak citizen, regardless of the child’s place of birth. A child born to non-Slovak parents in Slovakia can also acquire Slovak citizenship by birth if at least one parent has been legally residing in Slovakia for at least five years prior to the child’s birth.
